Microsoft SQL Server 2017 and ODBC Driver 13.1 Support

12-11-2017

Microsoft has recently released SQL Server 2017 and ODBC Client 13.1. Both products are now supported for use with DataFlex mobile, web and Windows applications. See the Current Products List for details.

SQL Server 2017 offers breakthrough scalability, performance, and availability for mission-critical, intelligent applications and data warehouses. It also has enhanced security and now runs on the Linux as well as Microsoft operating systems.

The new ODBC Driver 13.1 is significant in its own right, especially when combined with the latest DataFlex driver for Microsoft SQL Server. Microsoft ODBC Driver 13.1 supports all recent versions of Microsoft SQL Server from 2008 to 2017 so developers can standardize on this driver for deploying DataFlex applications across many database server versions. Regardless of the revision of the application, DataFlex SQL Driver version 6.2.0.40 or later for Microsoft SQL Server is required to use Microsoft’s ODBC Driver 13.1 with the databases that it supports. The 6.2.0.40 SQL driver is installed with the DataFlex 19.0 August build; SQL driver version 6.2.0.42 is installed with the December build of DataFlex 19.0. The 6.2.0.42 DataFlex SQL Driver can be downloaded for use with revisions prior to the December build of DataFlex 2017/19.0.
