 StarZen Technologies offers a number of add-on controls to Visual DataFlex, including VPE for VDF that enables the VDF developer to use the Virtual Print Engine from Ideal Software, a Dropdown button class with support for supports text with different text alignments, single line and multi line text and and images with transparency and different alignment options, and many more. StarZen is also the publisher of the Visual DataFlex Developers Journal and the author of the book Mastering Visual DataFlex.

FlexODBC
FlexODBC is a fully functional ODBC driver that can read and write DataFlex format files from version 2.3 up thru VDF 11. It requires an ODBC compliant front-end application such as Microsoft Access, Visual Basic, PowerBuilder, Delphi, Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel. Once installed, it will allow these applications to read and write DataFlex files in the same fashion as other SQL databases.
 Mertech’s DataFlex to MS SQL Server Connectivity
Mertech’s Flex2SQL for MS SQL Server allows DataFlex developers to run their DataFlex applications with Microsoft SQL Server without making source level changes. Flex2SQL uses Microsoft’s OLEDB Programming interface for communicating and accessing the MS SQL Server database which provides the fastest access to SQL Server. The product is designed to scale higher with the user’s needs and works with MS SQL Server Express edition to Enterprise versions. All versions of DataFlex and visual DataFlex are supported.
Mertech’s DataFlex to Oracle Connectivity
Mertech’s Flex2SQL for Oracle (ORAFlex) is a database driver that allows existing DataFlex applications to connect with an Oracle database server. Vinga Systems AB’s Vinga DFR is an exceedingly fast reindexing routine for DataFlex databases, developed to reduce the time spent on reindexing as much as possible. The index files are created in a fraction of the time taken by DFINDEX, and are 100% binary compatible with the index files produced by DataFlex DFINDEX.
Vinga Update
Vinga Update is a utility to change views on updates and revisions. It records all changes made to the database and updates, by request, a developer’s customer data base to the developer’s version. The update process is simplified so that the developer can send a disk containing a control file and an update program directly to the customer, who then starts the update program which updates their whole database structure fast and automatically.
VDF Structure Viewer
A picture paints a thousand words but painting a nice picture takes a lot of time. For instance, maintaining an up to date graphical representation of your complex data-model can take hours, even with your favorite drawing tool.
Now a tool is available which does this quickly and automatically. Written in Visual DataFlex, basing scans on a filelist.cfg or a workspace, VDF Structure Viewer can produce a graphical view of your underlying system. The result provides an editable vector-based view, so you can modify the layout after the initial scan. Results can be stored as an image file that you can include in your system documentation. The tool can scan older versions of DataFlex as well as all Visual DataFlex workspaces.
