QUESTION:
When I open the Web Application Administrator (WasAdmin) and click on the branches labeled "sessions" and "processes" in an application that is currently in use I do not see information about the processes and sessions. How come?
ANSWER:
The problem can be caused by:
1. Privileges
2. Install of XP SP2 AFTER installing Visual DataFlex Web Application Server.
Re 1:
If the service (WebAppServer) is running under a different user account than the user you are using for the interactive logon (to see the processes and sessions) the lists will be empty. Make sure you are using the right credentials. Visual DataFlex 11.0 WasAdmin will have a change that allows everyone to look at the information.
Re 2:
We've got signals that the installation of service pack 2 of Windows XP does something bad in this area. The behavior can be changed/fixed by re-registering the service. To do this:
- Stop the Visual DataFlex Internet Server (via Web Application Adminstrator or via the services in Administrative tools)
- Open a CMD window
- Go to the directory where WebAppServer.Exe is located (select the right one in case of multi version installations)
- Type:
* WebAppServer.Exe -regserver
* WebAppServer.Exe -service
NOTE:
Running above solution of re-registering WebAppServer.Exe resets the all service settings, such as logon information, startup type, recovery settings and so on. So if you are not running with the defaults and using a special logon account you need to specify this again else your application will not behave as before.
