PROBLEM:
I am trying to test-run a Web Service, but the WSO URL only shows the following error:

Web Service Error
There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed.

------------------------------

Technical Information (for support personnel)

More information:
Error during Web Application Server session initialization, please try again later. Invalid Web Application: webtest. Please verify that the spelling is correct and that the specific Web Application has been correctly configured. Please check the Windows event log for further information about the problem.

------------------------------

HTTP 500 - Internal server error
Visual DataFlex Web Application Server

Important!
You might have to change how the browser displays the errors in order to get more details. Just select Tools | Internet Options, and on the Advanced tab, uncheck "Show friendly HTTP error messages" and press Apply. You should see more details on the error when you try to run your application again.

SOLUTION:
The probem is caused by either of these:

1. You do not have a web application running in this workspace. Create a new Web Application in the Web Application Administrator to resolve this problem.

2. You probably configured the virtual directory for this workspace/web service manually using the folder's properties dialog or IIS administration tool. Doing so may not configure the virtual directory to allow for anonymous access.

You should always create virtual diretories for Visual DataFlex web applications and web services using either the Studio or the Web Application Administrator.

You can solve this problem by either:
- Removing the virtual directory and recreating it by creating a new web application in the Studio (probably not a good idea if you have custom code in an existing web application ).
- Creating a new Web Application in the Web Application Administrator. This wizard-driven process allows you to choose an existing virtual directory or create a new one.
