QUESTION:
Sometimes I forget that I haven't registered a workspace that I need to work on and I open the Select Workspace dialog to change to that workspace but, of course, that workspace is not listed in the dialog.

Other times the workspace selector comes up when you try to open the Studio -- because something is wrong with the current workspace the Studio is trying to use (e.g. your DataPath is invalid), but the new workspace is not displayed for you to select because it hasn't been registered.

Is there any way to add a workspace from the Select Workspace dialog?

ANSWER:
Since Visual DataFlex 9.1, the Select Workspace dialog (File | Select Workspace) has a Browser button. If you press that button on the Select Workspace dialog, you can select any workspace file (.WS) to be opened.

If that workspace is not registered, the message "The selected workspace <workspace name> must be registered before it can be opened. The Workspace Registration utility will now be lauched so that you can register this workspace." will be displayed. Once you press OK on that message, the Workspace Registration utility is loaded and you can register the workspace previously selected.

If you do not register the selected workspace (i.e. you press Cancel at the Workspace Registration utility), you will have to select a registered workspace to continue working in the Studio or the Studio will be closed.
