PROBELM:
I noticed that with Visual DataFlex 10.0 when I open a table in Database Explorer -- grid style mode -- I miss some (or more columns). Is this a bug?
SOLUTION:
A new optimization / performance option was added to dbExplorer to show a limited number of columns when initially opening a table. The maximum number of columns displayed is, by default, set to 20. That value can be changed via File | Configure | Misc | Max columns where you can enter a number between 1 and 255, which is the real maximum allowed in a dbGrid.
Note:
The more columns you have in a grid style mode the slower the view and edit of data operates.
It is possible to select the fields you want to see in either the grid style mode or the single record view mode by opening the fields branch under the table you want to open and selecting the fields by clicking on them. The color of the picture next to each fiel name will change to reflect whether they were selected (red) or not (blue).
As soon as you have selected one or more fields, a button to rebuild the dataview will be enabled in the toolbar and in the floating menu (displayed when you click the right mouse of your mouse on the fields treeview node). This way you can leave the max columns to 20 (or so) and select all the fields you want to display (can be beyond the number in Max Columns) from the list of fields.
In order to keep your column settings for each table, make sure you check the "Save and restore column settings" option from File | Configure | MRU tab.
