PROBLEM:
After installing Visual DataFlex 10.0.27.8 (release), Visual DataFlex 9.1 web service can't be started any longer.
I had this problem when running VDF10.0 Beta, but only when VDF10.0 web service was stopped. Now, I can't run VDF9.1 web service at all -- it does not matter if VDF10.0 web service is running or stopped.
This PC was the same where I tested VDF10.0 Beta version.
If I open Studio from VDF 9.1 to compile a web application, it works. However, if I try to run the web application out of the Studio, the Service is stopped and the application does not run.
SOLUTION:
You should be able to correct this problem by re-registering Visual DataFlex 9.1 web service.
- Open a command window
- Change to the Visual DataFlex 9.1\Bin directory
- Type: webappserver -regserver
- Press <Enter>
- Type: webappserver -service
- Press <Enter>
- Type: regsvr32 wasclnt.dll
- Press <Enter>
Try to start your VDF9.1 web service again -- all should work now.
Note:
You might need to also register the wasasp.dll DLL. Just add these extra steps to the list above:
- Type: regsvr32 wasasp.dll
- Press <Enter>
