The migration wizard included in Visual DataFlex 12 or higher will migrate workspaces created in Visual DataFlex 8 and higher to VDF 12 or higher.
If you have an existing Visual DataFlex 7/6 or Web Application Server 3 workspace and need to migrate it to VDF 12 or higher, these are the steps to follow:
1. If you do not have Visual DataFlex 11.1 Studio installed, download and install it (see download link below). You can run VDF 11.1 for 30 days in evaluation mode, even if you do not plan to use it for development.
2. Launch the "Migrate VDF 7 Workspaces" wizard from Start > Programs > Visual DataFlex 11.1 > Utilities > Migrate VDF 7 Workspaces.
3. Follow the instructions in the wizard to migrate the workspace to VDF 11.1.
Once successfully migrated to VDF 11.1, follow these instructions to migrate the workspace to VDF 12:
4. Open the Visual DataFlex 12.0 (or most current version) Studio.
5. Select "Open Workspace" from the File menu.
6. Select "Workspaces to migrate (*.ws, *.sws)" from the "Files of type" combo box.
7. Navigate to the .ws file of the VDF 11.1 workspace to migrate.
8. Follow the instructions in the wizard to migrate the workspace to VDF 12 or higher.
NOTE: The VDF 11.1 migration wizard does NOT WORK on Windows Vista or Windows 7. VDF 11.1 was released prior to either of these operating systems. Please attempt this migration on Windows XP or lower (perhaps using an alternate PC or a virtual machine) or contact support@dataaccess.com.
