QUESTION:
How can I disable the "check for updates" dialog that comes up every time I start Crystal Reports Designer?
ANSWER:
In order to disable that, you should uncheck the "Check for Updates on Start Up" option located in the Help menu.
You can also change that and turn off automatic updates by modifying the value of DisableOnStartUp located under the following registry key:
HKCU\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\CheckForUpdates
Change DisableOnStartUp to 1 and the update dialog should not be displayed again when you start Crystal.
To disable checking for updates completely and for all users, change the value of DisableCheckForUpdates located under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports. Set the value of DisableCheckForUpdates to 1.
