PROBLEM:
I have Visual DataFlex 10.1 and 11.0 in a Windows 2003 Server machine. After installing 11.0 Web Services stopped working in 10.1. The error "HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found." is displayed. The web application in the same workspace runs fine.

What can that be?

SOLUTION:
First, check the workspace virtual directory name and make sure the URL you are using is correct. Also make sure that the corresponding WSO is in the AppHTML directory. Use the Web Application Administrator to correct the virtual directory -- delete and add the application to the WAA.

Second, check if the files waswsvc.dll, Xalan-C_1_6_0.dll and xerces-c_2_3_0.dll are in the VDF\Bin directory. If any is missing, uninstall and reinstall 10.1.

If both of the above are OK, check if the web service extension is listed and allowed. To do that:
- Open the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
- Highlight 'Web Service Extensions' -- see if 'Visual DataFlex 10.1 Web Services' is listed and allowed

If the extension is not listed:
- Unzip the wincrtvdir10.1-build2.zip into the bin folder of VDF 10.1
- Open a command window
- Go to the Bin directory of 10.1 and type:
wincrtvdir WS 1

After that, the extension should be added for 10.1.

If the extension is listed but is prohibited:
- right-click on the extension name
- From the floating menu, select 'Allow'
