Seneca Associates Ltd. appointed as DAW Channel Partner for the Middle East and North Africa

Fast and easy Windows and Web database application development just got a little bit faster and easier for businesses and organizations in the Middle East and North Africa with the addition of Jordanian-based Seneca Associates Ltd. as Data Access Worldwide's representative for the region.

The appointment was announced by Nick Nikijuluw, Data Access Europe's managing director, at the Gitex Technology Week 2008 IT exhibition recently held in Dubai.

"The choice for Seneca as channel partner for the Middle East region works out well," Nick said. "In Seneca, we found a partner with lively and strong communicative business networks in combination with high standards for quality and knowledge, who is willing to spread that throughout the business and academic layers in the region. Seneca has shown a strong dedication to making the new partnership a success. Seneca's performance at Gitex was a strong display of this."

Nick Nikijuluw, Data Access Europe's
managing director, welcomes Ammar
Zalloum of Seneca Associates Ltd. as
Channel Partner for the Middle
East and North Africa.

Seneca has offices in London and Dubai, and is led by Ammar and Mutasem Zalloum. The company is strongly affiliated with the Royal Science Society of Jordan, a scientific institute founded by the late King Hussein, and through this partnership they have direct entrance into a broad educational system that includes some 24 universities that serve many countries in the region.

Over the past several months, Seneca staff has undergone extensive product and development process training with Data Access Europe, and they have completed their first "pilot project" with Visual DataFlex. Next on Seneca's project list will be the realization of their first large-scale Visual DataFlex project for a freight management system.

In addition, the Seneca team has enabled Visual DataFlex to support the Arabic language, bringing the power of the Visual DataFlex toolset to developers in the region who require a Rapid Application Development (RAD) framework that is finely tuned for easily building and deploying Windows and Web database applications and Web Services. Seneca plans to enter Egypt in the near future as their first step toward a broader introduction of Data Access Worldwide's products to the region.

Seneca's Ammar Zalloum emphasized that the company will also offer IT consultancy and training in order to stay up-to-date with the latest technological advances. In addition, the applications and tools jointly developed by Data Access and Seneca have been developed according to the highest international standards.

Online Training program receives high marks

Data Access Worldwide Training - sign up today!Four weeks into the first ever Data Access Worldwide Online Training Program, developers' response has been overwhelmingly positive.

65% of attendees have thus far completed the follow-up survey regarding their experience with the Online Training Program, and every single respondent has confirmed that they would take additional online training from Data Access Worldwide.

Richard Lackey, a 20 year DataFlex veteran, boasts, "I thought it was great and look forward to the next session. Doug (Goldner) gave an excellent presentation. My opinion, this is how all trainings should be done!"

John Vermeer, a 12 year DataFlex developer, spoke not only of his positive training experience, but also of his experience with Citrix’s GoToMeeting as the interface, "The audio and screen quality were good. And you don't have to go somewhere. That is the big advantage with an online course."

The Online Training Program continues for the next two weeks. There is still time to sign up for Getting Familiar with Visual DataFlex. (At this time, the Converting Character Mode Reports to Visual DataFlex is now full.) A new series of classes starting January, 2009 will be published soon.

Following the announcement of Front-IT ApS' expansion as Data Access Worldwide's Channel Partner for Sweden, a Welcome seminar was recently held in Stockholm as a joint effort between the two companies - and the response from the Swedish community was overwhelmingly positive!

The two-day event drew a packed house, and included presentations about Visual DataFlex 2008, AJAX, upgrading legacy DataFlex and Visual DataFlex applications, Microsoft SQL Server and client/server applications, and more.

Front-IT ApS' Charlotte Grønvold
welcomes Visual DataFlex
developers in Stockholm, Sweden.

In addition, longtime developer and DataFlex community leader Sture Andersen showed his new application, dbRésumé, that was written to help gain overview of the structure of a databases.

Says Sture, "When a workspace is opened and a central table selector is operated you can observe table definitions, (semi graphical) relationship diagrams and column values for each table. dbRésumé is capable of sampling the entire database to enable displaying of column values and corresponding frequencies. Depending on the size of the database, this may take some time. dbRésumé may be regarded as an addition to other tools of the genre, for instance VDF Structure Viewer."

Sture also notes, "The 'résumé' part of the name refers to the Danish meaning of the word, which is 'the essence of a longer story.'" (Look for more details about dbRésumé in future e-News editions.)

Front-IT's Charlotte Grønvold, who discussed how the company intends to serve the DataFlex community in Sweden, opened the second day of events in Stockholm.

"Front-IT is very proud to become a Scandinavian Channel Partner and will do our best to serve all the countries in the region," Charlotte said.

Powerpoint presentations from the Stockholm meeting will be available from Front-IT's website as soon as they are available.
